Balsa USA is proud to introduce our new Kit Designer, William “Billy” Thompson. 

Billy left behind Franklin, Indiana and his mechanic’s business to relocate to Menominee and become a Designer and Technician and member of the Balsa USA family.  Billy got his beginning in the Model Industry from his father’s interest in the hobby.  He began flying in 1980 with a Sig Cadet Mark II and from there his interest soared and his collection grew. He also collects, designs, and sell farms toys, another interest he shares with his father.

Billy competes at pro competitions with his planes in Scale Contests all over the US, and was 2006 and 2007 National Champion Sportsman Scale.  He has also competed at the Scale Masters Championships.  His goal is to make it to Top Gun.
